Patina Studios Ltd. is a decorative painting school formerly affiliated with Patina Inc., one of the oldest and most respected decorative painting companies in the region. The teaching studio was formed in 2001 with the goal of a quality education with instruction provided by a professional with many years of experience in the field.

We have always been a working studio. That is to say, we're very busy employing the techniques we teach you in class. We know from experience the proper techniques and materials to get the job done. We keep abreast of current trends in color and design as well as the newest products on the market. Unlike other "faux" schools around the country, we do not sell product. Every material we recommend is readily available at your local paint or home improvement center.

Wall glazing techniques are taught on large scale walls in the studio. We teach you how to keep a wet edge on a large surface and how to handle corners and trim for a professional seamless look. These are skills that can't be learned creating small sample boards.

Owner/Instructor - Stephen Rigdon

Stephen Rigdon has a diverse background in art education and the decorative arts.  After working as an art education supervisor and teacher for a district in central Missouri, he entered the field of decorative painting with Trump Loy design; the first company of its kind in the region. 

He worked with Mary Barnes of Patina Inc. for 16 years in all phases of the business, from fine hand painted furniture to large scale murals.  Stephen is still active in the field, working with many of the top interior designers and building contractors in the area. 

He is available for in home color consultations and takes on commissioned work with new clients and designers as time permits.
